North Shore
Where the coast curves and Beef Country heads north.
From Saugus to Beverly, Marblehead to Middleton, the North Shore follows the Atlantic before folding inland.

Two peninsulas, Marblehead Neck and Nahant, reach out to sea, and five lighthouses across Marblehead, Salem, and Beverly keep watch over the coast. The weather turns quick here, the tide even quicker, and seagulls drift above harbors stacked with sailboats, lobster boats, and working docks.
Route 1A slides into 114, and one town rolls into the next, each with a shop that swears it’s famous, the best, or both. Lynn’s Red Rocks mark the shoreline before the road curves through Swampscott and Fisherman’s Beach, birthplace of the lobster trap.
In Salem, tourists trace the witch trials, stop by Hawthorne’s House of the Seven Gables, or spend an afternoon at the Peabody Essex Museum. Locals know the better move: order a 3-Way and follow their lead.
A Rare Kinda Sandwich, From a Rare Kinda Place.
Beverly and Marblehead still argue over who launched the first American Navy, but the real fight is over who has the better Beef.
Head inland and Danvers shifts from ocean views to green space at Endicott Park. Peabody opens to orchards and wide fields at Brooksby Farm, while Saugus keeps its roots in the Iron Works and Breakheart Reservation.
From the waves breaking at the Forty Steps in Nahant to the 400-year-old tree in Middleton, the North Shore has its own way of doing things. Beef shops have known that for decades.

Explore the other Beef Country Regions.
From Revere to Woburn, Winthrop to Waltham, Greater Boston balances old streets and new ideas. Some towns move quickly, others keep it steady, but everyone’s got an opinion on where to find the best Beef.
From Lowell to Lawrence and Haverhill to Methuen, the mills still mark the skyline, the people know where they’re from, and the Beef shops have been part of it all along.
From Newbury to Salisbury, fields ease into dunes and the air carries salt and sauce. Harbors hum, boardwalks glow at night, and a Beef by the water still hits like summer. It’s the far corner of Massachusetts, where every road bends north.
From Manchester-by-the-Sea to Rockport and Gloucester, boats, barns, and galleries sit side by side. The tides still matter, the work still counts, and a Beef at the end of the day earns its place.
